Kabale Catholic Diocese has announced the publication of banns ahead of the 2026 ordinations, calling upon the Christian faithful to disclose any known canonical impediments concerning candidates preparing to receive Sacred Orders.
The announcement was made in accordance with Canon 1043 of the New Code of Canon Law, which states that: “If the Christian faithful are aware of impediments to Sacred Orders, they are obliged to reveal them to the Ordinary or the Parish Priest before the Ordination.”
In a statement dated June 30, 2026, and signed by the Bishop’s Secretary, Rev. Fr. Placid Mugumya, the Diocese said Bishop has instructed Parish Priests and Assistant Priests to publicly announce the intentions of the candidates in their respective parishes.
The Diocese further requested that anyone with information regarding the unsuitability of any candidate should submit it to the Bishop’s Office by July 31, 2026.
The Diocese announced that 13 deacons will be ordained to the Holy Order of Priesthood on August 22, 2026, at Rushoroza Cathedral Parish in Kabale Diocese.
The candidates are Rev. Dn. Adon Aturinde of Nyakishenyi Parish, Rev. Dn. Cyril Arthur Ayebazibwe of Karujanga Parish, Rev. Dn. Deusdedit Niwagaba of Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, Rev. Dn. Ivan Ndamira of Mutolere Parish, Rev. Dn. Justus Turyatunga of Rubanda Parish, Rev. Dn. Sostine Mugisha of Muko Parish, and Rev. Dn. Syrus Aharizira of Makiro Parish.
Others are Rev. Dn. Anakeleti Maridadi, AJ, of Rutenga Parish; Rev. Dn. Prosper Turihamwe, AJ, of Muchahi Parish; Rev. Dn. Sosteni Turyasingura, AJ, of Rubanda Parish; Rev. Dn. Tom Twinomujuni, AJ, of St. Luke Muhanga Parish; Rev. Dn. Venansio Twesigye, AJ, of Rwengiri Parish; and Rev. Dn. John Bosco Magezi, M. Afr., of Rubanda Parish.
The same ceremony will also see 10 seminarians ordained to the Holy Order of Diaconate.
They include Sem. David Niwayinamani of Rubanda Parish, Sem. Demian Ampureire of Rwengiri Parish, Sem. Derrick Matsiko of Nyakibale Parish, Sem. Gerald Nsengiyunva of Sooko Parish, Sem. Godwine Ainembabazi of Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, Sem. Ivan Byamugisha of Rutooma Parish, Sem. James Byomuhangi of Muko Parish, Sem. John Borris Nahamya of Nyakibale Parish, Sem. Moses Niwahereza of Kambuga Parish, and Sem. Pius Orinshemeza of Nyarushanje Parish.
Earlier, on August 2, 2026, Sem. Clinton Byaruhanga of Muko Parish and Sem. Javira Niwahereza of Kakore Parish will be admitted as Candidates for the Major Orders during a ceremony at Rushoroza Cathedral Parish.
On the same day and at the same venue, 20 seminarians will be installed into the ministries of Lector and Acolyte.
The seminarians include Sem. Phillip Abemigisha of Christ the King Parish, Kabale; Sem. Collins Agaba of Butogota Parish; Sem. Methodius Ainebyoona of Bukinda Parish; Sem. Emmanuel Aryatunga of Buyanja Parish; Sem. Jasper Atuheire of Christ the King Parish, Kabale; Sem. Elijah Atukunda of Kishanje Parish; Sem. Thomas Ayebazibwe of Muchahi Parish; Sem. John Balaam Byamukama of Buhara Parish; Sem. Leodinas Byomuhangi of Rubanda Parish; and Sem. Joakim Habineza of Kinanira Parish.
Others are Sem. Anthelem Kanyikirize of Kitanga Parish; Sem. Peter Kyasiimire of Kyanamira Parish; Sem. Arthan Muhairwe of Buyanja Parish; Sem. Joseph Mujuni of Nyakibale Parish; Sem. Davis Niwamanya of Rubanda Parish; Sem. Francis Niwamanya of Rubanda Parish; Sem. Polycarp Owoyesigire of Muko Parish; Sem. Ivan Ruhangariyo of Rubuguri Parish; Sem. The Diocese concluded its statement by praying for the candidates as they prepare to take up their respective ministries.
“May the Holy Spirit continue to guide these young men in their preparation for the different ministries they are about to embrace,” the statement read.
